A tragic accident occurred early Monday along Alao-Akala Memorial Highway in the Randa area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, when a bread distribution van fatally struck two middle-aged women.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke with Star Potter, the vehicle, identified as belonging to Oluwabori Bread and bearing registration number Oyo AME 92 XB, was reportedly speeding when the women attempted to cross the road.
Another eyewitness revealed that one of the victims was a popular Ekuru (bean meal) vendor from the Osupa area.
Reports further indicate that the driver of the van did not stop after the collision. However, commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) chased and apprehended him a short distance away.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later arrived at the scene to evacuate the victims’ bodies.
